What I have come to believe

As a young child, I often pondered the meaning of life. My ponderings occasionally led to epiphanies at random moments. One of those moments still remains fresh in my mind as if it were yesterday. I was four years old. It was early evening at the end of a hot summer day; a rare occurance in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1950s. I was out in the front yard with my father who was patiently watering the thirsty grass. That evening it was my job to squeeze between a tall hedge and the front of our house to turn the garden hose off and on. I stood in the tiny enclosure with my hand on the spigot and at that moment experienced a flash of insight. I got that my life was not limited to a single time and space.

Fast forward to when I was in my early twenties. This time it was mid morning in early Fall. I was walking out the front door of my apartment to attend classes at Santa Barbara Junior College. I glanced over at a coral colored rose bud I had placed in a vase the night before. At that very moment something inexplicable happened. Time froze and sped up all at once and I witnessed the opening of the bud into a beautiful, fragrant flower.

Both experiences revealed to me pieces of a much larger truth. Those pieces have served as cornerstones of a philosophy that I live my life by. I believe that we are all here to evolve and expand our consciousness to include more of the Truth. We do this by learning through trial and error over innumerable lifetimes. We all have our own unique rhythm and pace and in our own time, when the time is ripe, we open and bloom like a beautiful rose.

becoming an evolutionary astrologer

Fast forward again after many years, a few more epiphanies and many lessons later. I was at a retreat center in Northern California. It was early afternoon, mid Fall, in the midst of wind-blown Monterey Pines and salt scented air. I was there to learn about astrology and to meet a master teacher by the name of Maurice Fernandez. We met, I studied with him for 3 days and subsequently spent the next four years as his student immersed in learning Evolutionary Astrology.

A few years earlier I had begun to feel a strong inner prompting to find a truer calling in this lifetime; something that felt more directly aligned with my beliefs but also something that would utilize the knowledge and wisdom I had gleaned from my life experience up to that point. I was drawn to study astrology. After exploring various systems, I chose Evolutionary Astrology.

Through the study of Evolutionary Astrology I have come to know myself in a way that I hadn’t before. My life and how it has unfolded now makes so much more sense to me. The perspective that I have gained and continue to gain allows me to maintain a healthy detachment and greater sense of peace.

I feel deeply honored and blessed to be in this profession. Astrology is an amazing gift to humanity especially at this time in history when there is so much upheaval, change and uncertainty. I know how difficult it can be sometimes to find your bearings, to know who you are, what you need, where you’re going, and how to proceed. Evolutionary Astrology can provide perspective and guidance and can be a soothing balm to the soul. I am thrilled to be able to share it with you.

my particular passion

In my former life, before becoming an astrologer, I worked for over 30 years with families in a variety of capacities from caregiver to educator, advisor, counselor, mentor, director of educational and enrichment programs and entrepreneur. The thread that connects all my varied experiences has been my desire to support and encourage emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual growth in children. It has been my passion to be able to identify and nurture potential, educate, counsel, and support parents, guardians, grandparents, foster parents, etc. to provide the best conditions for their child’s optimal development, growth and happiness. I believe that I have an innate capacity for understanding human psychology and a gift for seeing a person’s greatest potential. With the use of Evolutionary Astrology my insight and understanding has grown three fold.

Even though I hold the belief that we all have the capacity to grow, open and bloom in our own time, I also know that its a journey and not a straightforward one for most of us. We come into this life with gifts, talents, and abilities gained from past life experiences but we also bring forward obstacles to overcome and wounds to heal. I believe that children have a better chance of navigating their way through it all and realizing their potential, as we all do, if those caring for them understand who they are on a soul level, what their potential is and what they need in the way of support in order to realize that potential. Armed with the knowledge and insight that Evolutionary Astrology offers, I believe that we, as adults, can accept, support and love them better.

A child’s growth and development does not take place in a vacuum. It takes place primarily within the matrix of a family system of some kind. Therefor I feel it is also important to use astrology to look at relationship dynamics between the child and other family members. Our souls choose to be part of a family for a variety of reasons, and if we, as adults, can gain some objective understanding of what those reasons are, we are better equipped to be able to consciously work on improving challenging dynamics. We also have the opportunity to appreciate the more positive connections and dynamics and ultimately, armed with astrological insights, we can better help steer the ship forward and be wise guides for our children.

Lastly I want to say that I have a particular passion for working with families that don’t fit the traditional definition of a family. I was adopted as an infant and at a certain point in my childhood was raised by a single mother. I understand, first hand, the challenges that adoptees face and the challenges of being raised by a single parent. I’ve also been a single parent and understand what that is like. I’ve worked with families who have adopted children and understand the challenges that adoptive parents face. I’ve been in a traditional marriage but am currently in a same sex marriage. I have many family members including my grandchildren who are bicultural so I acknowledge and embrace the fact that families are as varied and unique as the individuals that form them and each has its own unique gifts and challenges.
